Welcome to the shrine of Mr Domino!
What is No One Can Stop Mr. Domino
It's a criminally underrated PS1 video game. Mixing puzzle elements with sort of an endless runner, and sprinkling weird humor on top, developers Artdink made a hybrid game unlike anything else in the year 1998. Take control of one of the five available dominoes and start placing other dominoes in a row behind you. If placed correctly they'll trigger all sorts of unusual events which is the end goal; triggering them all (or a specific amount). Every stage repeats until this condition is met or the time runs out.
What is the plot of Mr Domino
The circle of life. The purpose of dominoes placed in a row is to fall in an entertaining way. We place the dominoes, we watch them fall to our amusement. Why? you ask. Why do we do anything? Because of necessity. Because of want. Because of need. And because of shits and giggles.
The player uses the D-pad to steer left, steer right, speed up and speed down. All the four face buttons do the same thing - places dominoes. Pick your favourite button and off you go!
What did the reviewers say about Mr Domino
[The gameplay is] nearly genius. If only the control was more responsive, this would truly be devine.
- IGN
Mr. Domino is one of those rare games that's accessible enough for nongamers and fun enough for experienced gamers and is enhanced by the $30 suggested retail price.
- GameSpot
The game packs in a good variety of gameplay for gamers looking for a good mix between racing, platforming
and puzzling. Once you're able to grasp the initial premise of the game, Mr. Domino zips along at an enjoyable
pace which taxes more than just your skill, but the gamer's brain as well.
- PSM
Early preview copies of Mr. Domino have caused outbreaks of Mr. Domino addiction among the gaming press
- Acclaim Press Release (not biased at all)
